Children’s Outreach Project is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees comprised of local corporate and nonprofit professionals. Through their professional expertise, these individuals guide the organization in major decision-making and provide general oversight of the organization’s work.
The staff of Children’s Outreach Project encompasses a wealth of education and experience in the early childhood field. Some of our teachers have been with the school for over 15 years. Many children with disabilities need accommodations to participate successfully in the general classroom. Teachers and other staff often require additional skills training to meet the needs of these children. Some employees have obtained their Master degrees, several have obtained their Associate degrees and others are continuing their education in a degree track at local educational institutions.
In compliance with Colorado licensing regulations, staff is trained in First Aid, Universal Precautions and Infant/Child CPR, and medication administration training.
We stress professional development and continual training of all staff members.
The center closes twice annually for professional development days, and there are 25 to 50 hours of ongoing professional development during the school year; addressing topics such as child development, nutrition, appropriate discipline/guidance, family relationships, developmentally appropriate practice, cultural and individual diversity, literacy, curriculum building and other relevant issues. Beginnning in 2005, C.O.P. has provided college level early childhood education courses to all teaching staff members.
